14 miles!!

Yes, it's true. Michael and I both finished 14 miles last Saturday. One of the three members of my pace group couldn't be at the run, and the other member got really hot and had severe back pain so she didn't finish. I ran/walked the last six or so miles by myself. It was fine though - the assistant coach came by on his bicycle every few miles, and the coach came out to run the last quarter mile with me.

I was feeling pretty good about mile 10, but I was definitely happy to stop running when 14 miles was over. The worst part was, I accidentally made a wrong turn, and ran an extra tenth of a mile or so!

It felt really good to complete 14 miles though. Now I know that I can run the half-marathon (13.1 miles). Hopefully it won't be too hot in Virginia Beach in two weeks!!

Running in Pittsburgh

The weather has been beautiful here in Pittsburgh - sunny, lows in the 60s and highs in the low 80s. I'm here for work for a week, and Michael came to visit for the weekend. We ran 6 miles (or so) in Schenley Park. Here's a link to a map of the park: http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/cp/maps/schenley_park_map.html. There were a lot more hills than we're used to! Next Saturday - 14 miles!

Thanks to the water volunteers!

My brothers David & Will, Will's girlfriend Angela, and Dan K. came to volunteer to pass out water last Saturday (July 30). They took pictures and movies on our digital camera. I'll post some of them here on the blog.
